9107B Type - Ex HART Transparent Driver
PR Electronics 9107B HART transparent driver for operation and drive control of I/P converters, valves and indicators mounted in hazardous areas. Operation of HART devices is possible as the unit transmits HART communication signals bi-directionally. Used anywhere intrinsically safe levels of energy need to be sent to devices located in a flammable atmosphere. The 9107B has been designed, developed and certified for use in SIL 2 applications according to the requirements of IEC 61508.
Features and Benefits
Can be mounted in the safe area or in zone 2 / Cl. 1, div. 2 and transmit signals to zone 0, 1, 2 and zone 20, 21, 22 including mining / Class I/II/III, Div. 1, Gr. A-G.
Configuration and monitoring by way of detachable display front (PR 4501)
2.6 kVac galvanic isolation between input, output and supply
Selection of direct or inverted function for each channel via PR 4501
Monitoring of internal error events via the individual status relay and/or a collective electronic signal
Designed, developed and certified for use in SIL 2 applications
Front LED indicates operation status and malfunction
Can be supplied separately or installed on power rail, PR type 9400
Output line fault detection
DIN rail mounting
Programming
The 9107B universal transmitters are programmable via the PR 4501 detachable display module (7966890). The 4501 module allows the programming of the vast array of input and output parameters easily and safely. Together with advanced functions including 2 point calibration, process simulation and diagnostics.
With a simple menu and explanatory text the 4501 is extremely straightforward to navigate. Functions are clearly depicted on the 4 line LCD display even in low light conditions. Line 1 shows the input signal, line 2 shows the units, and line 3 shows analogue output or tag number. Line 4 shows the communication and relay status. In addition the 4501 features password protection. Programming access can be blocked by assigning a password which is conveniently saved in the 9107B transmitter. This ensures a high degree of protection is maintained and prevents any unauthorised modifications to the configuration.
What is HART Protocol?
The HART protocol is a low speed, digital communications scheme that is carried on a 4 to 20 mA current signal. As 4 to 20 mA loops are commonly used in industry, the HART protocol is easy to implement, easy to use, and easy to troubleshoot. Devices that communicate via HART are popular in many industries.
