Product details
Alpha Wire EcoCable, 600 V Control Cable - Foil Shield
The EcoCable range from Alpha Wire is a 600 V control cable which is fully recyclable due to its mPPE jacket and insulation construction. The cable can handle extreme temperatures, contains zero halogens, plus it is smaller and lighter than its PVC equivalent.
Features and Benefits
Contain no halogen
Foil shielded cables consist of an aluminium/polyester shield
Moderate resistance to electromagnetic interference
Environmentally friendly
Able to handle extreme temperatures as low as -50°C
Smaller, lighter and lower outgassing than PVC cable
Excellent abrasion resistance
Mechanically strong
What is mPPE?
mPPE is a modified polyphenylene ether thermoplastic. Cables made from mPPE have a smaller wall thickness than other cables due to their dielectric properties. The fact that the cables are lighter allows them to be used in many different applications.
mPPE has a lower specific gravity compared to other jacket and insulation materials such as PVC and PE. This combined with the excellent dielectric properties allow the cables to be up to 65% lighter and thinner than conventional cables.
How is it environmentally friendly?
Unlike PVC, cables made containing mPPE are halogen-free, contain no phthalates and are 100% recyclable and deemed to be environmentally friendly.
What is halogen-free?
If a cable is not made from materials that contain salt-forming fluorine, bromine, iodine or chlorine then it is defined as halogen-free.
Product Application Information
Control cables are multi-conductor cables used in power applications within the automation and instrumentation industries. Control cables can measure and regulate transmissions of automated processes. These cables have a long flex life in mechanical machines which have constant motion or flexing.
Control cables are also suitable for use in NFPA 79 applications. The purpose of NFPA 79 is to provide safeguards for industrial machinery and to protect operators, equipment, facilities, and work-in-progress from fire and electrical hazards.
