RS Pro Plug-in AC-DC Adapter with Europlug, ECP Euro Series
From RS Pro an energy saving plug-in AC-DC power adapter with a compact and light-weight design for converting AC mains current into DC voltage for a wide range of DC applications. This AC adapter has a 2-pin Europlug style enclosure and is terminated with a DC cable with a 2.1 x 5.5 x 9.5 mm DC connector.
What is an AC-DC Adapter?
AC-DC adapters are also known as AC adaptors or AC-DC converters and are a type of external power supply. Some electrical appliances require power but lack the internal components to derive the required voltage and power from AC (alternating current) that is supplied by the mains. This AC mains power needs converting to a DC voltage before the appliance can use it. This is where an AC adapter is used.
How Does an AC-DC Adapter Work?
The adapter consists of a power supply which is enclosed in a case similar to an AC plug, hence the term plug type, plug-in or plugtop power adapter. One end of the power supply is terminated by a DC power cable with a DC connector on the end. This DC connector is plugged into the device which is being supplied. The power supply is plugged into the mains socket and the AC current is then converted by the adapter into a DC voltage that is fed into the appliance via the cable connection
What is a Europlug?
This power supply is encased in a Europlug style enclosure. The Europlug is flat with two round pins and is used for connecting low-power Class II appliances to round pin domestic power sockets used across Europe
Where are these AC DC Adapters Used?
AC DC adapters are widely used to power small or portable electronic devices. This AC adapter is ideal for use with the following applications:
• IT equipment such as laptops
• Audio Equipment
• Digital Photography
• Security equipment
• POS (Point Of Sale) equipment
• Telecommunications & broadcasting equipment
• Portable equipment such as smartphones and notebooks
