What Is a Crimp Terminal?
Crimp terminals are solderless electrical terminals or connectors that are used to terminate stranded wire. These electrical connectors are simply crimped on to the end of a wire or cable using pliers or a crimp tool to provide an electrical connection. Once this is done the terminated wires and cables can be joined together, for instance in a cable harness or connected to a mating electrical connector or a terminal post in a piece of electrical equipment.

Colour coded insulation for easy terminal size identification
Plastic sleeve on terminals provides insulation and wire support
Tin plating for good corrosion protection.

Questions and Answers
How to Crimp a Terminal onto a Wire
Select the correct size crimp terminal and strip the end of the wire. Cut the wires to the same length as terminal and twist the strands together. Using a ratchet crimping tool or crimping pliers insert the tubular end of the crimp terminal into the correct crimping section (indicated by sizes marked on the tool). Insert the wire into the terminal and squeeze the tool handles together until the ratchet releases. A ratchet crimping tool is preferable as the handles will remain locked until a full crimp cycle is completed preventing partial crimps. The crimped wire end is now ready to be inserted into the connecting terminal.
