RS PRO IEC Standard In-Line Thermocouple Plug Connectors
From RS PRO a standard in-line thermocouple plug connector which is colour coded in accordance with IEC specification. This thermocouple socket is ideal for connecting your thermocouple probe or wire terminals to extension or compensating cables. This male plug also provides a quick, safe and error-free way of replacing your existing thermocouples. The plug housing is made from a rugged glass-filled thermoplastic which is impact resistant and able to withstand high temperatures of up to 220°C. The pins on this male connector are round and polarized to ensure an accurate connection. The housing is IEC colour coded with the thermocouple type clearly indicated on the front for easy identification.
What is a Thermocouple Connector?
Thermocouple connectors are an accurate and convenient way of interconnecting your temperature sensing components. Using these connectors allows a chain to be formed from the measuring tip of your temperature sensor to the host computer or meter. It is important that all the components in the chain are made from the same thermocouple material to prevent any alteration or distortion of the original signal. To achieve this, thermocouple connectors have pins or sockets made from the same material as the thermocouple they are being used to connect or a compensating material. The connector housing has the thermocouple type clearly printed on it and is also colour coded to allow easy identification. The connector is opened up and the thermocouple wires are simply screwed down into place using two captive screw clamps. The thermocouple plug connector can then be plugged into thermocouple socket connector.
Features and Benefits
Contacts made from true thermocouple alloys or compensating material for accurate signal transmission
IEC colour coding for quick and easy identification
Polarised round pin contacts for an accurate connection
Made from rugged glass-filled thermoplastic
Able to withstand a high temperature of 220°C
For use with stranded or solid wires
Simple captive screw clamp connection for quick assembly
Polarity and thermocouple type clearly marked on housings
Applications
These standard connectors are used in industrial applications where thermocouples are installed, extended or replaced. Their robust construction makes these thermocouple connectors ideal for use even in the most demanding temperature measurement applications.
